Poetry for Strangers: Fabulous (a villanelle)

the garden of life

the temple of the mind is everywhere
waves wash on the ancient stone debris
chaos reigns over this fabulous affair

the rooks song woke the witchs hare
over our lives trees stand sentry
the temple of the mind is everywhere

tell me your story of love and prayer
the water oak held the church key
chaos reigns over this fabulous affair

willows became priestesses of the hallowed lair
ivy overtook the alter this century
the temple of the mind is everywhere

every breath scores infinite space in midair
the devil haunts the ash tree
chaos reigns over this fabulous affair

the cypress stood as a justice in eyre
its leaves hanging over the blackened sea
the temple of the mind is everywhere
chaos reigns over this fabulous affair
