Poetry for Strangers: Eyeshadow

chop wood carry water
do the things you know you oughter

listen not to the febrile greek chorus
fools and felons in the eye of horus

you ask why I came back to this house by the sea
for nothing but the soul of sweet telemetry

every gut experience is a rain drop
life is a torrent a deluge a flood full stop

find your friends and grab them close
they will watch you at night after the last dose

assassins rebels rockers thieves and queens
eyeshadow is worn by the augustines

amen amen amen goes the refrain
search not for truth in the tall sugar cane

o to be self-balanced whitman proclaimed
but a wild vector is the heart untamed
